When shopping for students' wardrobes, please keep in mind the NCI Dress Code:

DRESS AND APPEARANCE:

The dress code takes into account safety, health, and the maintenance of a non-distracting work atmosphere for both staff and students.  Students are expected to be neat and tidy.  The following are the Guidelines that have been established by Administration and a Student-Body Committee in regards to NCI’s Dress Code:

  • Female students are to refrain from wearing any summer shorts that are shorter than mid-thigh.
  • All shirts/tops worn shall not be lower than the crease of ones’ armpit, (no low-cut tops that are revealing.)
  • All undergarments (both bottom and top) must be completely covered at all times (bra straps and underwear, are not to be exposed.)
  • Tank top straps must be three finger widths wide, NO spaghetti strap tops are allowed to be worn alone, (may be worn with a long/short sleeved sweater.)
  • T-shirts with inappropriate logos are not acceptable in the school setting.  References or images relating to smoking, drinking and drugs are not appropriate.
  • Out of school dress, e.g., suggestive or revealing beach-type clothing, not acceptable to be worn in school (shorts that are higher than mid-thigh, see-through and low-cut tops/shirts.)
  • Hats, toques, and other head coverings are not to be worn in the classroom, lab, library, or gym at any time.
  • The Phys. Ed. teacher will inform students of appropriated gym wear.
  • For safety reasons, sandals with open toes are not appropriate footwear in the Tech. Ed., Home Ec., Science lab, and gym settings.

Students not adhering to the above will be asked to change into more appropriate clothing.  This could mean students will be sent home to change into school appropriate attire.
